Bastille Day at the JMM!

Here at the JMM we take our random holiday celebrations very seriously. (Especially when it means we can indulge in delicious food.) So once we realized that today is, in fact, Bastille Day, well, what could we do except take a quick field trip out to our local French bakery, Patisserie Poupon! Located close enough to the museum for a quick walk over, we couldn't resist!

The bakery's Baltimore storefront.

In honor of Bastille Day, they were offering these Kouign Aman (a round cake with sugar sprinkled between the layers). They even included a fact sheet about this Breton Pastry, which let us know these are rarely seen in U.S.-located French bakeries.

It was delicious.

And of course we had to get the interns (and Jobi and Jenn) to show a little French pride in honor of the day!

At least we didn't make them sing La Marseillaise!

Yes, you should definitely be jealous!
